Coastal Georgia Activity Guide – Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in May
Coastal Georgia Senior Activity Guide
People from all over the region will soon be heading to Fernandina Beach and the annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival.
The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival has long been popular with active Coastal Georgia senior citizens.
The star of the event is the wide variety of shrimp dishes available. This year, there will be at least 25 food booths all staffed and run by local non-profit groups from across Nassau County. Fried shrimp, shrimp ettouffee, shrimp on a stick, shrimp gumbo, boiled shrimp. You get the picture. Not only is the Shrimp Festival a fun event, it is also has been a key fundraiser for Nassau groups for several decades.
If you have been looking for something fun to take your grandkids to, the 2014 Isle of Eight flags shrimp festival will be a great choice. Kids love shrimp and festival food, so feeding them will be no problem. There will be over two dozen fun activities for kids. There will also be lots of live music, which will be appropriate for all ages. Best of all, admission is FREE, so that is a big savings right up front.
Savvy Coastal Empire seniors will wear their walking shoes (bring a stroller for younger grandchildren). The Isle of Eight Flags shrimp festival will feature:
- 300 Fine Artisans and Skilled Crafters (woodworking, hand made jewelry, furniture, quilts, clothing, art, home decor)
- 50 Antique Dealers (furniture, art, farm implements, nautical memorabelia, Southern collectibles)
- 25 Kid Fun Zone Activities (bounce houses, crafts, face painting, balloon art, caricature, wide variety of activities).
- Live music on two stages (wide variety of musical styles)
- Pirates. Lots and lots of pirates. Guaranteed.
