Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for Savannah Seniors

The Gift of Travel Combines Making New Memories and Giving Your Time

Did your mother make you the person you are today?

Have you been looking for a way to appropriately thank them?

The Trip of a Lifetime: For most of us, time and money are hard to come by. If you have the means and flexibility of schedule, consider taking a memorable trip with your special senior.

Mother's Day Savannah, Mother's Day Georgia, Mother's Day Coastal Georgia, Mother's Day Coastal Empire,

A friend of mine recently took her mom on a “Planes, Trains, and Automobile” adventure. Their mom had visited 45 states and had often commented on how nice she thought it would have been to be able to see the last five. They combined Amtrak, buses, airplanes, and Uber drivers to make her dream come true. It was not astronomically expensive, but it was an investment both financially and of time.  The results? Her mom loved and appreciated the trip.Thanksgiving Savannah, Thanksgiving Georgia, Thanksgiving Coastal Empire, Thanksgiving Tybee Island, Senior News Savannah GA, senior activities Savannah GA,

Did your mother introduce you to hiking or camping? You can economically recreate a trip that will bring back those childhood memories for you both.

Here are some great camping and hiking areas near Savannah:

  • Skidaway Island State Park: Is mom past the point where tent camping is fun? Reserve one of Skidaway State Park’s cabins. Enjoy coastal marsh views as you hike, fish, or just play cards by the campfire.
  • Fort Pulaski: This historic Savannah area fort is more of a day trip, but it will give you a chance to walk together and relive some Georgia history.
  • Fort McAllister State Park: This is a big park, over 1700 acres. It does offer camping including seven beautiful cottages and a number of RV spots and tent camping sites. There is also a fishing pier.

Is your mom the beachy type? Head to Tybee Island, Jekyll Island, or a favorite spot from your childhood.

Coastal Empire Seniors Tip: Is your parent or in-law a World War II Veteran?

Take them on a trip to Europe, North Africa, The Philippines, Japan, or wherever they served. Many World War II veterans have never had an opportunity to return. Doing so can provide enormous closure. Can you imagine associating a country or region with death, bombed out buildings, and being scared all the time? A trip back to see how a land has recovered and flourished can be a real blessing.
