Brown Bag for Seniors helps provide nutrition assistance to Coastal Georgia seniors in need

Many Coastal Georgia seniors seek volunteer opportunities that allow them to assist those closest to their hearts – other Coastal Empire senior citizens.

Would you like a volunteer opportunity that let you help provide much needed food assistance to other Coastal Georgia seniors?

Consider volunteering with the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia “Brown Bag for Seniors program”.

Are you familiar with the Brown Bag for Seniors program?

If not, here are some highlights on how the program provides food assistance for Coastal Empire seniors:

• Volunteers like you spend the third Saturday of each month packing bags with food for Coastal Georgia Seniors
• Bags include a mix of food designed to provide five meals: canned goods, pastries, fresh bread, and fresh vegetables and fruits when available.
• Bags are distributed to more than 1700 Coastal Georgia seniors in need during the third week of each month.
• Second Harvest serves 21 coastal counties
• More than 10,500 Coastal Empire senior citizens live below the poverty level – volunteering one Saturday each month can make a real impact on their lives.
