Savannah Senior Entertainment News: Coastal Empire Seniors Visit Battlefield Memorial Park
Savannah Visitor’s Guide
In today’s Savannah Senior Entertainment News, we look at Battlefield Memorial Park.
Active Coastal Georgia seniors make a lot of day trips to visit Coastal Georgia’s historical landmarks.
One popular senior day trip is a visit to Savannah’s Battlefield Memorial Park.
On October 9, 1779, 8,000 soldiers from three different armies clashed for control of Savannah, Georgia’s colonial capital.
This was the second bloodiest battle of the entire American Revolution, and Battlefield Memorial Park marks where approximately 800 troops died or were wounded.
Battlefield Memorial Park is a memorial to those soldiers. The park is located at the corner of Louisville Rd and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Savannah.
Savvy Savannah senior citizens leave time in their itinerary to also visit the nearby Savannah History Museum when they make a day trip to Battlefield Memorial Park. The Savannah History Museum has exhibits from colonial Georgia up through Forrest Gump.
