That’s right Coastal Georgia Seniors, it’s right here in Savannah.

If you have been looking for a chance to celebrate your Irish Heritage without leaving Coastal Georgia, here is your St. Patrick’s Day Savannah Planner.

Savvy Savannah seniors won’t wait until the parade to start celebrating though!

The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day celebration has become HUGE. With two weeks of activities leading up to our parade, that should be no surprise.

St. Patrick’s On the River Festival

Savannah’s River Street is no stranger to partying, and they step things up significantly for this St. Patrick’s weekend festival. St. Patrick’s On the River Festival has become Savannah’s  biggest party of the year. The festival has drawn national attention and big crowds of Coastal Georgia seniors add to the St. Patrick’s Day mix.

If you are a Coastal Empire senior considering attending the St. Patrick’s On the River Festival, what should you expect?

• Multiple stages of non-stop live entertainment – everything from pipe and drums to Irish dancers to contemporary cover bands.
• Carnival style games
• Plenty of opportunities to indulge in everything from fine dining to street food with lots of cold beverages (yes, many of them green!)
• Looking for a “home base” with a little protection from the crowds on the streets? Try City Market. They will have their own schedule of live Irish music, food and fun.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade Savannah

Crowds for the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade can swell to a MILLION spectators, with over 300,000 tourists coming in for the parade.

The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day parade is centered in Savannah’s National Landmark Historic District.

The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day parade starts at the corner of Abercorn and Gwinnett Street  and ends at the corner of Bull and Harris Street.

Our Savannah senior citizens attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade are in for quite a show.

•  350 floats
• Marching units featuring representatives from various local Irish groups
• Irish pipe bands
• Local and regional celebrities
• Coastal Georgia based military units

There will be the usual green beer, and lots of it.

If you are not looking for green beer, there will be lots of Irish food (some of it green).

Of course, some Savannah seniors enjoy both!

The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade is an old celebration dating back to 1813. In it’s early days, the Savannah parade was more military in it’s makeup, and even today our military is still highly respected during the festivities. The parade has been ongoing for nearly 200 years, interrupted only by The War Between the States and World War I.
